This new and unique service will be the first of its kind in Europe and our aim is to operate on a 24/7 basis subject to being able to raise the necessary funding. The service is required due to the high number of critically ill children who require urgent intensive care transfer from local hospitals to specialist units across the country.
The condition of the children we will fly covers a wide range of life threatening illnesses and can include; severe problems following birth, multiple trauma, severe respiratory problems, major organ failure, severe meningitis, coma and serious burn victims, to name just a few.
In addition we will also undertake urgent transplant flight flights and urgent blood flights where a child’s life is at stake.
The service will be made available to all specialist children’s hospitals and we will be able to get airborne within minutes of receiving a call.
In short, this service will not only helps to save the lives of many children, it will also make a positive impact for the medical teams, the service they provide and families throughout the country. |
